Today, he’s here to share his knowledge on dairy. While it’s true that we need calcium, the idea that we need to get it from dairy is actually a harmful myth.

Growing up, I thought that we all needed dairy to be healthy. After all, that’s how you get enough calcium to grow strong bones, right? But the question is whether we have to get calcium from dairy. My dear friend Dr. Mauricio Gonzalez joined me in New York to make a video to answer that question and give you guys some information on the facts and myths of dairy.

When I switched to a plant-based diet and stopped having dairy, I saw some amazing benefits.
My skin got clearer and more radiant. In our conversation, Mauricio explained why this happens. It turns out that dairy stimulates the growth of sebaceous glands in the face, which can lead to acne. So removing dairy is a great step toward getting youthful-looking, radiant skin.

I also noticed that my digestion improved when I switched to a plant-based diet. It turns out that isn’t just me! Mauricio explained that there has been evidence since the 1950s that severe constipation in children improves when they stop eating dairy.

All of this goes against the standard narrative that consuming dairy is important and contributes to strong bones. But Mauricio explains that the science behind that narrative is outdated. In fact, he talks about a study that shows that women who drink three or more glasses of milk are more likely to die prematurely, develop certain types of cancer, and (surprisingly!) to suffer from hip fractures.

There are other problems involved in eating dairy, which I’ll let Mauricio explain himself in the video!

I know it can be hard to give up dairy, but you don’t actually need to make big sacrifices. Plant-based milks, yogurts, cheeses, and even ice creams mean you can make healthy choices without feeling deprived.

And yes, a plant-based diet can fill all your nutritional needs! Protein, exercise, and vitamin D are all important too. So head outside and get some sunshine for that vitamin D! If you aren’t sure where to start with exercise, try my at-home full-body workout. And if you have a hard time getting enough sunshine, take vitamin D supplements to be on the safe side.
Removing dairy is just one step, but it’s a great step to take!

    I agree with you and Dr. Mauricio… When I switched to a vegetarian based diet I noticed improvements in my skin, energy levels, digestion and many other things… I know many more improvements will come when I switch to vegan one day but unfortunately that day won’t be today, because mozzarella cheese is keeping me vegetarian for now… To both of u thank you for sharing your knowledge…

    Love the acticle i am new to your page and youtube i hope you could help me i am 32 years old and I have all my life eat meat my son is 4 years and will not eat at all the Doctor had just put him on Iron medication for that reason how can i help him and my self to start a healthy way to eat from zero how do I begin can you please help me giving me ideas on how to and from what food with could get more Iron for him thank you God bless

      Hi Yajairar! Try getting your son involved with the cooking process in the kitchen! Taking him to a healthy cooking camp could be a great idea. Or just have him help you with chopping veggies or stirring a bowl, anything to get him involved. Try shopping at farmer’s markets to get fresh produce. There are lots of healthy veggie recipes online. You could also get a community basket of produce delivered to your door (like Farm Fresh to You)
